The GM Oshawa Assembly Communications team is responsible for leading Oshawa Assembly's reputation in the areas of internal communications, community relations, corporate social media, product/brand/technology, and media relations in Canada with a strong sense of employee focus, purpose, and accountability.
In this role, you will help develop and create storytelling moments to demonstrate Oshawa Assembly's dedication to manufacturing excellence, innovation, and inclusion. This position is a great opportunity for an energetic and motivated person wanting to gain experience in a fast paced and dynamic organization and team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Write content for internal, external, and digital audiences
- Develop compelling storytelling opportunities for Oshawa Assembly
- Assist with onsite event planning and execution
- Contribute to the development of visual communications including video editing and presentations
- Research and gather information for upcoming projects
- Present and share communications plans with leadership team
- Analyze social channel data and analytics to support future communications plans
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's (Preferred) degree in the following areas: Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Multimedia, Social Sciences, Arts
- Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada and for 12 (2-4 consecutive semesters) starting May 2025
- Willing to work in a plant environment
- Outstanding writing and editing skills with attention to detail
- Effective storytelling, video-editing, and event planning
- Comfortable using social media and creating content
- Have a valid Full Class G Ontario Driver's Licence, or equivalent Canadian out-of-province licence
- Successful candidates will be required to attest to their vaccination status (or indicating that they do not wish to disclose), and any job offer will be conditional on the candidate providing that attestation

- Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
- High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed
- Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
- Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric
- Excellent project management skills and the proven track record to manage numerous projects at any given time
- Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
