Job Description Summary
The performance engineer role at GE Aviation is a systems engineering role that is focused on the engines thermodynamics cycle and data analysis. The T901 performance engineer will work across steady state and transient performance disciplines and demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business and T901 program goals. This role will work broadly across performance and operability disciplines including steady state cycle development, engine design support and trade studies, transient cycle development, transient schedule definition, operability analysis, and engine test definition and execution to develop and qualify the T901 engine.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute with guidance the analysis of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements related to steady state and transient performance.
- Develop innovative approaches to analyze and evaluate transient and steady state performance issues using state of the art cycle analysis tools.
- Work closely with the engine hardware design teams to define engine operating conditions and iterate on design options.
- With guidance, develop transient control schedules, to meet engine requirements within operational constraints.
- Participate as a presenter in internal and external program reviews.
- With guidance, create and execute on engine test plans. Reduce engine test data, interpret result, and recommend plan of action to leadership team.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, compressor, combustor and turbine aerodynamics, compressible flow.
- Understanding of airflow, temperature, and pressure measurement systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong technical aptitude related to components and systems of increasing complexity
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams
- Experience in Gas Turbine Performance Analysis, Operability analysis, Compressor or Turbine Aerodynamics.
- Knowledge of C, C++, Python programming languages
