Job Description Summary

Defense Engines is the military business unit for GE Aerospace, which is at the forefront of supporting Production, Component Improvement Programs, Sustainment, and Field Integration, while supporting fleet operations for both domestic and international customers. The Heavylift Rotocraft Systems and Design teams are responsible for the technical and program execution of T408, T64, and T58 engines.

The T408 Systems, Performance, Operability, Controls & Transients (SPOCT) leader will integrate multiple engineering disciplines and sciences across the propulsion system, and where appropriate, across other Defense Engine programs. This leader will drive integration between the various SPOCT disciplines to deliver solutions based on program and customer requirements. This role will have a significant impact on both short-term and long-term business goals with a primary focus on T408 Operability. This role will aid in accelerating career growth with SPOCT or Systems Engineering and working alongside a vibrant and energetic engineering team.

In this role, you will significantly impact the team's ability to achieve service, quality, and readiness objectives for the T408 product line. You will operate within established policy guidelines, operate with moderate autonomy, and utilize high levels of operational judgment to achieve the desired outcomes. In support of GE Aerospace operations, you will prioritize Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost to drive excellence through utilization of FLIGHT DECK.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Engine Technical Integration and Program Management

  • Manage the functional interface between systems, design, aerodynamics, performance, and supporting organizations.
  • Formulate and implement plans to meet technical and program requirements, schedules, and contractual commitments while balancing program risks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams or projects with minimal oversight and in highly complex work-scope.
  • Manage risks relative to product requirements and ensure clear requirement flowdown to all functional teams.
  • Lead engine system SPOCT trade studies to balance product performance, durability, and schedule.

Communication and Accountability

  • Analyze data and provide recommendations through clear and insightful presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accountable for executing, monitoring, and communicating project status and significant developments with senior leadership.
  • Address customer and business issues proactively and effectively.
  • Facilitate effective communication of technical and business information across organizations and working groups.
  • Communicate effectively with management on technical, organizational, resource, and personnel matters.

Horizontal Leadership and Influence

  • Lead across engineering disciplines and business divisions, as necessary.
  • Utilize internal stakeholders and customer feedback.
  • Take ownership of enterprise processes, tools, and lean initiatives.
  • Integrate processes to meet customer and business needs to contribute to long-term initiatives and strategy in the SPOCT discipline.
  • Communicate complex concepts to various stakeholders and ability to influence others on technical decisions; works to build consensus
  • Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and provide recommendations.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering position.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience in two or more SPOCT disciplines.
  • Experience in legacy product support, NPI certification/qualification, and technology development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects from planning to execution.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Strong track record of customer-facing relationship building.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence.
  • Champion of a lean culture.
