Job Description Summary
You will lead, shape and execute Edison Works radar cross section (RCS), electromagnetic (EM), and infrared (IR) test facilities and methodologies for a host of programs across the military portfolio.
The primary function of the role will be to serve as the focal point for all programs who are looking to execute scope against EM, IR, and RCS requirements. In order to successfully support such programs, the manager will be responsible for recruiting, hiring and deploying an extraordinary work force dedicated to timely and accurate testing. The manager will be responsible for understanding the military landscape and working with major military efforts to help forecast need and support for the broader team.

In addition to enabling team operability, the role will have influence on company funded research and development, plant and equipment business investments and proposal shaping for major customer funded activities. Furthermore, the role will work in tandem with EHS and facility safety groups to establish and maintain the highest level of safety standards in the lab facilities.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining standard work within the lab spaces to ensure reliable, repeatable and accurate measurements. This will include understanding industry standards, customer requirements, and internal methodologies to help shape internal benchmarks and success criteria.
- Provide professional guidance and mentoring to existing engineers. Influences EM, IR, and RCS measurement policy and ensures delivery within area of responsibility, linking with other parts of the organization. Additionally, facilitates the future growth of test engineers through the development of test curriculum and knowledge transfer programs.
- Interprets internal and external program challenges and recommends best practices to improve EM, IR, and RCS measurement techniques and production throughput. Will engage internal and external stakeholders to align GE Aerospace's best interests with current and future requirements of internally and externally funded military programs.
- Presents relevant EM, IR, and RCS test solutions and future growth concepts to leaders. Responsible for executable plans to deliver on requirements and program timelines. Establishes relevant relationships with external partners, vendors, or customers to ensure successful test campaigns and on-time delivery for major NPI efforts.
- Will develop and own the technology roadmap related to the growth and expansion of novel measurement techniques in both research and development and production relevant environments.
- Must establish a strong bond between Supply Chain and Signature Test to build out world-class production capabilities for GE Aerospace.
- Responsible for creating, deploying, and executing lean principles to manage laboratories and test spaces while ensuring all labs are held accountable to the highest safety industry standards.
- Must drive collaboration and communication between GE Aerospace Research and EM test facilities to guarantee a consistent and repeatable approach to EM and IR testing for low maturity development systems. Similarly, must drive collaboration between EM and IR design teams to establish smooth communication and execution between design and test for all major NPI programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related engineering field or Master's degree from an accredited university or college in applied science, physics, or mathematics, with at least 10 years of experience in RCS relevant military programs.
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship
Desired Characteristics
- Expertise in a broad range of RCS analysis methods, measurements techniques and designs
- Expertise in a broad range of IR analysis methods, measurements techniques and designs
- Significant background and experience of RCS scattering phenomenology of engine-related component hardware experience associated with the design, analysis, and testing of RCS models and hardware is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of RCS design & radar range test measurements
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
- Established project management skills
- Experience working with DoD customer and processes
- Experience managing DoD EVM projects
- Strong track record of ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead by influence
- Existing Secret or Top-Secret security clearance with the US Department of Defense.
