Job Description Summary
This role is for Sub-section Manager (SSM) Fan module team which is part of Advanced Mechanical Design section at Bangalore Engineering Center, GE Aerospace. In this role, you are required to demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, program strategy, plan & processes related to the Future of Flight Technology maturation efforts related to Fan module. In this role, you are responsible for program execution, resource mgmt., stakeholder mgmt., business understanding & nurturing the technical & professional growth of your sub section.
Activities are aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Be responsible for developing design & Technologies for Future of Flight fan module programs.
- Lead the team to achieve technology and design solutions & mitigate risks associated with new technologies.
- Providing leadership and technical mentoring/guidance/direction to the team for specified programs/projects to meet objectives in a cross functional environment.
- Collaborate with organizations including but not limited to Systems, interfacing hardware teams, Sciences, Analysis, PDE, and Manufacturing Programs to accomplish team's and program priorities.
- Leverage Lean fundamentals and drive effective daily and visual management in the sub-section and deliver on the priorities of the team.
- Conceptual or theoretical activities relating to identification and development, monitoring the productivity and reliability of new, conceptual, and untested technologies related to Fan module of Future of Flight programs. To include work being done related to manufacturing advancement requirements of new technologies.
- Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Required Qualifications
- B. Tech/BS/MTech/MS/PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering programs and teams, inspire excellence in teams and drive change
- 10+ years of relevant experience on mechanical design in Aviation domain
- In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
