About this Position
The Defense Engineering Delivery team is looking for an energetic, agile leader to establish and lead an engineering team dedicated to supplier partnership and improving quality and delivery of our products.
Areas of focus for this leader and team will be: Establishing standard work to identify and executing component producibility improvements to improve hardware flow, partnering with key Suppliers and GE supply chain leadership to develop joint technical problem solving and strategy, and to development engineers in supporting production of our products. The strategy will be focused on creating horizontal partnerships with multiple different organizations to look at tooling, cold starts, and capacity.
The role includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing manufacturing processes and new processes. Leading teams responsible for helping sites to implement Flight Deck tools for operational visual management. The team operates with moderate levels of autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. A main goal of the team is to ensure the source for the component or product to meet the agreed upon production rate within the expected quality of a GE Aerospace product. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve business targets in this role.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Influence key stakeholders to define and deploy technical countermeasures on short and long-term strategies for the Top 15 suppliers, including balancing business/customer needs and technical/budget constraints.
- Partner horizontally and develop multi-year casting model strategy to support new tooling procurement and qualification.
- People development focused on individual growth and technical talent pipeline development to drive sustainable organizational success.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.
- Manages competing organization priorities and drives strategic thinking, based customer/business objectives.
- Have high levels of interaction with and exposure to engineering leaders from multiple disciplines, leaders in manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts.
- Ability to drive collaboration between suppliers, sourcing and engineering.
- Drive the team to look horizontally across defense and commercial for common producibility improvements.
- Communicate effectively critical project status, business issues and significant developments with senior leadership across the business and customers.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration, driving continuous improvement through application of FLIGHT DECK, including development and ownership of action plans to anticipate and respond to constraints.
- Champion strategic continuous improvement opportunities that improve cycle times to disposition delivery challenges and streamline engineering processes.
- Development of leading and lagging indicators that align priorities to the business outcomes.
- General knowledge of castings, and the process capabilities of casting foundries related to Production and NPI environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering or technology
