About this Position
The Engineering Delivery Team is responsible for execution of engineering activities to validate and enable manufacturing and producibility. The execution of these projects has significant impact to customer and business goals both in the short-term and long-term. Role requires a dedicated and dynamic Team Leader to oversee a small team focused on enhancing the delivery of structural castings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for task prioritization, ensuring high-quality output, and maintaining effective communication with senior leadership. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence within our manufacturing processes.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the execution of producibility changes through creation of standard work. You will apply engineering concepts to design, drafting and manufacturing issues. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to substantiate and document changes. You will engage with colleagues and partners in manufacturing sites to refine engineering solutions. You will manage projects related to the modernization of engineering requirements to streamline supplier communication and collaboration.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for various hardware germane to turbomachinery.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a small team to achieve set goals and objectives. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
  • Organize and execute daily management to conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and align on priorities.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Serve as the primary point of contact between the team and senior leadership. Prepare and present regular updates, reports, and performance metrics to senior management. Ensure clear and transparent communication of project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Will lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements, using Flight Deck (GE Aerospace's proprietary lean operating model). Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in design engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in project management

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Knowledge of and experience with structural castings and structural component design
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience delivering high-level presentations to executive leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, strategize, and execute programs using Flight Deck.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills.
  • Experience with finite element analysis software such as ANSYS, 3D modelling software such as NX Unigraphics, and use of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
