Job Description Summary

GE is forming operations teams dedicated to ensuring the performance and availability of Compute and Network infrastructure across all business segments. These teams, composed of highly talented individuals, focus on maintaining availability through the operational excellence of the Supplier Rating System. The ideal candidate will lead both offshore and onshore teams, possess strong technical skills, be passionate about automating processes, and be fully committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Mentor and guide the development team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Analyze the communication and integration of various applications to optimize functionality.
  • Be readily available to respond to and resolve critical service outages that severely impact consumers.
  • Establish performance baselines, capacity thresholds, correlate events, and define monitoring and alerting criteria.
  • Develop automated solutions to proactively address potential problems before they cause service interruptions.
  • Provide impact assessments and mitigation plans for changes being implemented in the production environment.
  • Investigate the root causes of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions, and apply them across the enterprise.
  • Develop availability measures that align with consumer experiences to accurately assess the usability of crucial services.
  • Build capacity models to baseline transactional loads compared to resource performance, leveraging data to predict overall system capacity and automate load placement to avoid outages.
  • Identify thresholds for all critical links in the data path to quickly isolate imbalances that may result in potential outages.
  • Analyze failure points in services to model risk levels and resolution steps, assisting in driving architecture enhancements to mitigate potential failure points.
  • Programmatically monitor and remediate configuration drift of critical devices.
  • Develop response plans for potential failure points and evaluate their effectiveness during planned tests.
  • Perform comprehensive operational health checks of the entire service architecture to identify areas of concern and track activities to drive improvements.
  • Provide technical coaching and direction to junior team members to foster their development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with 6 plus years Digital Technology experience or High School Diploma/GED with 9 plus years Digital Technology experience
  • Experience with Supplier Rating System factors; quality, delivery, price, and service

NOTE: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven experience in scripting and software development for cloud environments using languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, Node.js, and Vue.js.
  • Proficient in maintaining databases including MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong focus on ensuring uptime, availability, and reliability, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud computing concepts, including security, usage scenarios, and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Extensive knowledge of common operating systems, including Unix/Linux and Windows.
  • Experienced in managing version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Skilled in deploying and managing infrastructure on public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Proficient in using automated configuration management systems like Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Salt.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Network Management protocols and tools (SNMP, MIB).
  • Experienced in configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools such as Datadog, Sensu, Grafana, and Splunk.
  • Dedicated to finding innovative ways to ensure customer success.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team focused on rapid result delivery.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and able to quickly adapt to dynamic environments.
