Job Description Summary

This role will be responsible software development of critical custom Engineering reports used within GE Aerospace. This role will involve working independently and contributing to the team. This role will also contribute to design discussions, and drive team efficiency through agile/scrum and DevOps methodologies. This role heavily uses the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) software suite, where it is critical to understand the data model it uses and the security applied to various types of data. There are also numerous reporting tool options for ELM and other engineering tools which need to be understood, evaluated for use, and leveraged as needed to present the data required by our customers.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

- Design & build technical data dictionaries and support business glossaries to analyze the datasets
- Perform data profiling and data analysis for source systems, manually maintained data, machine or sensor generated data and target data repositories
- Design & build both logical and physical data models for both Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) solutions
- Develop and maintain data mapping specifications based on the results of data analysis and functional requirements
- Build a variety of data loading & data transformation methods using multiple tools and technologies.
- Design & build automated Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) jobs based on data mapping specifications
- Manage metadata structures needed for building reusable Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) components.
- Analyze reference datasets and familiarize with Master Data Management (MDM) tools.
- Analyze the impact of changes to downstream systems/products and recommend alternatives to minimize the impact.
- Derive solutions and make recommendations from deep dive data analysis proactively.
- Design and build Data Quality (DQ) rules.

- Familiar with XML - including XML syntax, schemas

- Familiar with querying REST data sources returning XML Javascript, JSON

- Attitude - ability to "dig in" and work through ambiguity to unknowns to find answers. I think this is critical.

Qualifications/Requirements:

For roles outside USA:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.

For roles in USA:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum years of experience 5years

Desired Characteristics:

Experience with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM), Engineering Workflow Manager (EWM), Engineering Test Manager (ETM), and Engineering Requirements Manager (ERM). Experience using the API's and security model within those tools. Experience with reporting tools such a IBM Rational Publishing Enginer (RPE), Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT), IBM Report Builder, and/or Spotfire. Understanding of cybersecurity, CMMC, and/or Export Control regulations. Jenkins automation or other CI/CD experience. Scrum/agile experience.

- Exposure to industry standard data modeling tools (e.g., ERWin, ER Studio, etc.).
- Exposure to Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tools like Informatica or Talend
- Exposure to industry standard data catalog, automated data discovery and data lineage tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, etc., )
- Hands-on experience in programming languages like Java, Python or Scala
- Hands-on experience in writing SQL scripts for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL or HiveQL
- Experience with Big Data / Hadoop / Spark / Hive / NoSQL database engines (i.e. Cassandra or HBase)
- Exposure to unstructured datasets and ability to handle XML, JSON file formats
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and generate visual summaries of data. Identify data quality issues proactively.

- Ability to communicate ideas clearly with cross teams.
- Ability to showcase teamwork skills to achieve common goals, provide resolutions and share ideas.
