The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop state-of-the-art programming tools to support 3D printing technology development.
  • Utilize image analysis and computer vision techniques to improve data collection and sample assessment processes (CT scans, metallography images)
  • Design and implement numerical tools and applications to enhance quality of additive manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with global multidisciplinary teams and project leaders to gather and integrate technical requirements into code logic.
  • Translate requirements (Design Practice, GE Specs. etc.) / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and GE quality standards.
  • Close cooperation with frontend developers
  • Increase TRL of GE proprietary codes developed by other teams.
  • Conduct validation and testing of software tools to ensure functionality, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of existing tools and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to additive engineers in the use of developed tools.
  • Document software designs, development processes, and user guides to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
  • Provide technical leadership to an agile team.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Science, Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, preferably in the field of additive manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Proven experience with developing and implementing numerical tools and applications.
  • Proficiency in programming in Python.
  • Good communication in verbal and written English.
  • Experience with software development tools and frameworks (e.g., Git).
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Proficiency in image analysis and computer vision libraries and frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow is a plus).
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and additive manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex programming problems.
  • Ability to assess and improve the functionality and accuracy of numerical tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • A proactive approach to learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in software development and additive manufacturing.
  • Ability to contribute to the continuous improvement of tools and processes.
  • Experience with R&D projects and increasing Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) of new technologies.
  • Familiarity with GE coding standards is a plus.
