Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced PLM Architect to join our MBE/PLM team, transforming GE Aerospace's aircraft engine design and build processes. You will define, design, develop, configure, implement, and support MBE/PLM solutions for our Edison Works military business, ensuring consistency with our Commercial business. Your role will ensure technical alignment across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Services.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Leads and coordinates the domain technical and business discussions relative to future design direction across multiple teams or complex product line.
  • Analyzes enterprise tools designs and develops a road map along with an implementation plan around PLM platforms.
  • Reviews and/or analyzes and develops design at domain level and across multiple teams.
  • Participates in the EA business-wide and domain governance model.
  • Leads the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.
  • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain.
  • Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentor others throughout the domain.
  • Able to partner with business leaders to align projects with business goals and needs.
  • Able to recommend allocation of budget to meet design initiatives critical to business/mission success and develop the business case for approval.
  • Must be hands-on to be able to build POC's using emerging technologies and stabled hardened design patterns to be design enterprise class applications.
  • Able to participate in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.
  • Experience in working with enterprise platforms around CAD/PLM.
  • Experience in working with Micro services, SOA, Big Data systems (Hadoop etc.), Enterprise Search tools (Elastic Search, Solr) Cloud Technologies, & DevOps.
  • Collaborate with the business function to address data related problems in regards to systems integration and product structure.
  • Enforces methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy at the point of entry.
  • Responsible for vendor evaluation within MBE/PLM functional space, providing recommendations for selection, and on-going relationship management.
  • Develop peer, cross-functional and cross-GE Business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 5 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 8 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 10 years of professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in PLM Architecture
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiar in C/C++ programming and Teamcenter server-side development (ITK SOA), BMIDE, Java, HTML, XML, Webservices, REST framework and/or Active Workspace configuration and declarative programming.
  • Use of UFUNC and NX-Open APIs for development of custom CAD applications, with focus on architecting reusable code components with good knowledge of .NET & MFC.
  • Good knowledge of scripting languages e.g. CGI, Perl , Python
  • Understands technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction.
  • Understands concepts of software deployments and configurations.
  • Familiar with automation techniques and tools; including automated testing.
  • Delivers tasks on-time with alignment to architectural goals.
  • Identifies and raise issues, risks and benefits. Resolves day-to-day issues. Escalates issues that impact the client and/or strategic initiatives.
  • Participates in change initiatives by implementing new directions and providing appropriate information and feedback.
  • Strong problem solving skills. Applies values, policies, procedures and precedent to make timely, routine decisions of limited, clear choice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Participates in domain technical and business discussions relative to future design direction aligning with business goals.
  • Gathers and analyzes data, develop design for the requirements at project level, aligning design requirements with software development strategy.
  • Reviews exceptions and makes recommendations to the standards at a domain level.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of business' structure (P&Ls) and the interplay of functions to support business goals; demonstrate knowledge of the business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.
  • Collaborates with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits.
