Job Description Summary
The Embedded Software Engineer will report to the Commercial Software Manager within the GE Evendale Future of Flight Organization. The engineer will be responsible for the development and verification of flight critical engine control software which enables the safe operation of commercial jet engines.
Successful entry-level and early career GE embedded software engineers possess a diversity of educational backgrounds including, but not limited to: software, electrical, controls, systems, and aerospace engineering.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Embedded Software Engineer, you will:
• Participate in all facets of the systems engineering process - system architecture, systems engineering, and project management

• Lead the definition of software planning activities and ensure compliance with and maintenance of approved plans
• Define and formalize system, software, and human integration requirements; ensure compatibility of software requirements with hardware requirements
• Define and execute engineering lifecycle test, validation, and verification activities
• Apply Lean principles, GE best practices, and design standards to control system software designs
• Lead the application of configuration management tools to software designs
• Validate and verify software designs in a diversity of system integration environments - from local desktop computer simulations to fully representative flight tests
• Present designs and validation results to internal (GE) and external (customer, agency, government, ...) customers
• Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

• Coding experience in MATLAB, python, C/C++, SCADE, VBA, Perl, etc.
• Real time embedded software or firmware design experience
• Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
• Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills
• Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
• Project planning and project management experience
• Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
