JOB PROFILE:

The Senior Machine & Process Dynamics Engineer will partner with process engineers and CNC programmers to apply progressive manufacturing methods that achieve new levels of production process performance including process capability, cycle time reduction, tooling savings, and ma- chine lifespan. In this role you will have the responsibility to enhance manufacturing process performance through application of machine & process dynamics / kinematic methods. You will apply new technologies, and scale improvements across multiple part commodities & manufacturing locations within the supply chain value streams. As a thought leader in this space, you will have the responsibility to develop training curriculum and train / mentor process engineers & CNC programmers in the application of these methods.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply tools and processes to analyze machine & process dynamics and kinematics across production manufacturing lines.
  • Partner with process engineers, CNC programmers, and maintenance teams to achieve machining operations that demonstrate high levels of process capability & automation, reduce tool cost and extend machine lifespan by incorporating machine and process dynamics and kinematic studies
  • Develop and implement tools & processes to support machine health analysis & improvement such as statistical process monitoring & threshold detection of key process parameters. Train resources to utilize these tools effectively.
  • Scale applied methods and solutions across machine platforms and supply chain sites.
  • Partner with the digital technology team to implement data collection and analysis standards for process monitoring and control. Implement high level manufacturing changes based off this data collection to deliver positive outcomes for the business.
  • Aid in the invention and implementation of next generation advanced manufacturing methods across all supply chain sites. Partner with cross functional teams during MRL development & production ramp efforts.
  • Advocate and implement MBM methods to enable the supply chain to be a leading partner in developing an MBE framework.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree accredited college or university in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing)
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical/ hands on manufacturing experience manufacturing
  • Ability to travel 40%

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

  • Production 5- axis milling Machining experience
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Cutting force analysis, prediction, and validation within machining processes
  • Application of machining chatter detection & mitigation methods
  • Implementation of vibration sensors, data collection systems and analysis
  • Siemens CNC & NX CAM experience, NREC and MAX AB
  • NC program optimization and closed loop machining experience
  • GD&T
  • Ability to work with global, distributed teams to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with GE Aviation Quality requirements and systems (e.g., NMS, SPS, eCAV etc.).
  • Ability to effectively work individually or with a team
  • Self-starter
  • Experience as Certifying Agent for Conventional Machining specs or has the qualification to be approved for Certifying Agent for Conventional Machining Specs
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and adhere to manufacturing standards and policies.
  • Experience with the change control process.
  • NPI & technology development knowledge.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international, as required.
