This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

Job Description

The Software Validation & Verification Lead will lead the software verification efforts for the full software development lifecycle. In this role, the Software V&V Lead will work with the Engineering Project Manager, Systems Lead, Systems V&V Lead, Software Leads, the customer, and other project leadership to understand the project's technical, cost and schedule requirements. The Software Lead will be responsible to work with the team, planning, coordinating and driving the execution of the software verification work. In addition, the Software V&V Lead will work closely with engineering management to identify and assign key skillsets and resources required for project execution.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a good working relationship with the customer, Engineering Project Manager and other project and engineering leadership.
  • Understand the technical scope, cost and schedule for the project.
  • Work with the Control Account Manager to develop the schedule and track costs, earned value, scope and risk.
  • Provide software verification team oversight and provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute as a member of the Software Verification team.
  • Provide software verification team oversight to ensure delivery of a quality artifact / product in accordance with plans and processes.
  • Maintain software verification planning documents.
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitor team progress towards deliverables, remove roadblocks and drive accountability and ownership of individual and team commitments.
  • Identify and manage dependencies, risks and scope creep associated with the software verification effort for the project.
  • If applicable, identify supplier scope of work and manage schedule.
  • Continuous demonstration of the GE Leadership Behaviors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems and/or software engineering, and additionally a minimum of 2 years of experience in DO-178 verification efforts.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Experience with DO-178C DAL B or higher.

  • Demonstrated ability in software verification activities.
