As the Senior Materials Behavior Engineer you are responsible for the design and execution of materials property test programs to understand the behavior of metallic materials applied across the full life cycle of aero engines.

  • Apply Materials Behavior expertise in metallic material mechanical test program planning and program coordination.
  • Apply statistical and curve regression methodologies to generate and publish mechanical property design curves.
  • Partner with internal and external lab specialists and technicians to meet customer program requirements and deadlines.
  • Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long-range engineering needs.
  • Provide technical expertise on product problems throughout the business including supplier and field support.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area is integrated with others.
  • Lead and provide key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact
  • Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, apply, adapt or develop technologies for product introduction, quality, performance, cost improvements and problem resolution in meeting current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs.
  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to customers using reports and records.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanics of materials engineering position

  • Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability.
  • Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
