This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

Job Description

GE Aerospace is looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer / Hardware Application Engineer who will develop products, utilize emerging technologies, and craft electronic products to meet our aerospace customer's needs. This role requires cross functional development experience in electronic/electrical design.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead bids, proposals, product concepts, initial design solutions for new products.
  • Lead strategic technology planning for the Platform Hardware organization.
  • Develop multi-generational product plans focusing on hardware design initiatives.
  • Implement concept design on Independent Research and Development (IRAD) projects.
  • Apply design experience to existing programs which are implementing new technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in new business pursuits with our customers.
  • Drive effective project startup, focusing on initial implementation of product or design concepts.
  • Demonstrate superior technical expertise, assisting in hands-on design problem-solving and mentoring.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years of design experience in any combination of electronic design, custom logic design and software development
  • Experience with electronic product development.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Strong organization, written, and presentation skills.
  • Lean mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Eligibility Requirement (s):

  • US Citizen: This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience in complex avionics systems development.
  • Cross-domain design involving any combination of custom logic design, electronic design, or software.
  • Direct engagement with customers
  • Experience designing microprocessor-based systems.
  • Experience with EMC and thermal testing and/or product qualification.
  • Capability to partner and drive alignment across matrixed organizations.
  • Experience with Earned Value and Activity Based Management methods.

The base pay range for this position is $121,500.00 - 162,100.00 . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 4/1/25.
