Job Description Summary

As a Senior Engineer in the Mechanics and Design Organization, you will lead programs involving strong technical leadership and collaboration with the engineering team. You will provide technical solutions of moderate complexity in the design, analysis, testing, and validation of systems/ components for aerospace turbomachinery systems. You will have ownership to design and develop innovative and impactful technology to improve the mechanical performance and reliability of aero engine components.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute system/ component design and analysis projects of moderate to high complexity for aerospace gas turbine engines
  • Collaborate with global engineering and research teams, in the design, analysis, and optimization of machinery components and systems under complex thermal, mechanical, and/or aero loads
  • Provide leadership and technical direction while working with technical team, support functions and/or external suppliers to meet project deliverables.
  • Prepare, review, participate and coach team members for project and technical reviews.
  • Proactively identify technical challenges and help mitigate same through technical expertise to help meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for developing internal and external project proposals and initiatives, and guide team members to explore such opportunities
  • Provide technical guidance and significantly contribute to grow overall technical capability and product knowledge in technical focus areas.
  • Provide technical development across the organization through effective coaching/mentoring.
  • Foster a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or Structural Dynamics
  • At least 10 years of experience in component/ system design and/or analysis projects in the power generation, propulsion, automotive or oil and gas sectors.
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Execution mindset and sense of urgency
  • Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a global team environment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with the design, analysis, and optimization of machinery components (e.g., shafts, bearings, dampers, couplings, seals, gears, etc.) including conceptual design, detailed design, testing, validation, and product implementation.
  • Experience with leading technical teams in structural strength analysis, applications of structural mechanics in product design under complex loading
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams in simulation software (e.g ANSYS) & 3D modelling packages (e.g NX, SOLIDWORKS, Creo)
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and expand the state of art in areas of structural analysis and design
