Essential Responsibilities:
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will:
- Work both independently as well as with teams to develop and apply real-time embedded controls and communication systems for GE Aerospace products
- Interact with hardware suppliers and engineering tool providers to identify the best solutions for the most challenging applications
- Lead small to medium-sized projects or tasks
- Be responsible for documenting technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications
- Expand your expertise staying current with advances in embedded system software to seek out new ideas and applications
- Collaborate in a team environment with colleagues across GE Aerospace Research, GE Aerospace, and government agencies
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience OR a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience OR a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Strong embedded C/C++ skills
- Experience with embedded system development environments (e.g., Xilinx, NXP, ARM)
- Willingness to travel at a minimum of 2 weeks per year
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
Ideal Candidate Characteristics:
- Coding experience with Bash, Python, C#, MATLAB, ARMv8 assembly, RISCV assembly
- Experience applying formal methods to hardware verification
- Experience with Linux driver development
- Experience with FPGA design and development using VHDL and/or Verilog
- Familiarity with Xilinx and/or Intel devices, tools, and ecosystems (e.g., ModelSim, Intel Quartus, and Xilinx Vivado)
- Experience with Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto, Buildroot)
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as hypervisors, Docker containers, etc.
- Working knowledge of real-time operating systems (e.g., VxWorks, FreeRTOS, and RTLinux)
- Experience with the development of real-time embedded applications and systems on microcontrollers, SoCs, FPGAs, x86, RISCV, and/or ARM processors
- Experience developing interfaces with FPGAs for SoC devices
- Experience developing embedded ARM processor software (e.g., Xilinx Zynq, Versal, and MicroBlaze processors, ARM development Studio, NXP CodeWarrior)
- Understanding of embedded system security requirements and security techniques
- Demonstrated ability to take an innovative idea from a concept to a product
- Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Experience with the Agile methodology of program management
The base pay range for this position is 100,000 - 205,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on March 18, 2025
