As a Senior Engineer - Aerodynamics/Aeroacoustics/Aeromechanics, you will collaboratively lead applied research in computational aerodynamics/aeroacoustics/aeromechanics for GE Aerospace commercial engine programs and technology demonstration programs such as RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines). You will be a key member of a team of technologists and engineers at GE Aerospace Research collaborating with the GE Aerospace business teams to deliver on our commitment to sustainability, safety and quality for our customers while advancing aerospace and defense for future generations.

- Apply your knowledge in computational aerodynamics / aeroacoustics / aeromechanics to develop innovative aerothermal-mechanical solutions for aircraft engine technologies.
- Specifically, apply your expertise in design and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) to execute modeling and simulation studies and analyses to extract and provide insights into key flow physics; compare against RANS, provide design guidance, and develop/update best practices
- Technical leadership of a discipline or sub-discipline of global teams on multi-generational technology programs to enable future design advancements, while independently executing tasks leveraging your technical skills. Lead and deliver on technical projects with set timelines and cost, implement plans to meet technical requirements and assure proper documentation
- Network and collaborate with both GE Aerospace business and research team members across multiple global teams to identify and shape opportunities for innovation, build plans for technical projects
- Serve as a technical expert in the discipline/sub-discipline, and guide, mentor and coach members of the team to help meet program deliverables and objectives
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Computational Turbomachinery Aerodynamics with Aeromechanics and / or Aeroacoustics with 10-12 years of experience OR M.S in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering specializing in Computational Turbomachinery Aerodynamics with Aeromechanics and / or Aeroacoustics with at least 12-15 years of experience in applied research
- Fundamental knowledge in turbomachinery aerodynamics / aeromechanics / aeroacoustics and relevant computational expertise
- Demonstrated experience in using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with in-house industrial or academic codes or in-commercial CFD codes
- Programming skills [Python / MATLAB / FORTRAN /C /C++]
- Oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated project planning and execution rigor
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in turbomachinery aerodynamics / aeromechanics / aeroacoustics
- Experience in unsteady computational aerodynamics - URANS and LES modelling and applications; LES code development would be a plus
- Experience in using large computer clusters to run large simulations
- Programming skills in Python/MATLAB/FORTRAN/C/C++
- Experience in detailed modeling of turbomachinery components (fans, compressor, turbines, inlets and exhausts)
- Hands-on experience in designing fans, compressors and/or turbines, at various levels of fidelity
- Experience in performing design trade-off studies and design optimization
