Job Description

Role Summary:

The Regional Security Specialist (RSS) will be an active member of the GE Aerospace (GEA) Global Security team. The RSS will primarily be responsible for performing day to day tasks associated with Regional Security Operations, assist in developing security plans and procedures, creating standard work and program management. The RSS will also provide guidance on crisis management, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure a secure environment in line with organizational policies and regional regulations. Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as an understanding of security best practices and local/regional security challenges.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain an awareness of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Support RSD, SSD and CSO on security-related activities.
  • If necessary, travel to assist other Global Security team members.
  • Support additional security related activities as required by the RSD or SSD in support of special events, crisis management and operational business needs.
  • Support other Global Security Team Members cross-regionally when required and directed by the RSD or SSD.
  • Liaising with related GEA components such as facilities, logistics, procurement, legal, compliance and digital technology teams to support the Global Security mission.
  • Develop project plans, including scope, and timeline.
  • Build strong working relationships with management, company peers, and industry counterparts to ensure company goals align with current security industry and regulatory trends.
  • Keep senior management informed about the status of security issues and initiatives.
  • Produce site readiness and security-related metrics monthly to the RSD, or as required/requested.
  • Stay current with relevant travel security and geopolitical risks globally.
  • Provide travel security support and work with the GSOC/ARC for country security assessment ratings.
  • Provide event security program management support.
  • Create eLearning content & modules.
  • Train end users on the basic operations of deployed systems
  • Standardization and LEAN principles. Producing standard work for the regional team.
  • Support facilities at the direction of the RSD with compliance to security related GEA policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Utilizes technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverage technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.
  • Provide general oversight and guidance on the security operations for GEA sites.
  • Work in partnership with all SSLs to ensure that all security recommendations from audits are implemented at sites and track completion metrics.
  • Provide security education and awareness activities, across the region, continuing education efforts for sites and leadership teams as well as all employees through awareness programs.
  • Participate in security audits & inspections of GEA facilities in cooperation with RSDs.
  • Review risk and site vulnerability assessments to identify deficiencies and best practices and provide recommendations for program improvement.
  • Assist in developing exercise simulation scenarios to test the various country and site crisis plans, in coordination with the ARC & RSD, identify and propose gap resolutions for site crisis plans.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Support the Workplace Violence Prevention focal and RSDs in helping to mitigate the threat of violence in the workforce.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in operations/process improvement/program management
  • Desired experience in security management, Legal or Compliance preferred.
  • Familiarity with global/international security laws, regulations, and an understanding and acceptance of varying global perspectives, ideologies, and cultures.
  • Fluent in English
  • Spanish as a second language highly desirable
  • Good interpersonal, judgement and situational awareness skills in delivering complex programs/projects.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Able to work effectively across multiple cultures.
  • Domestic and international travel required.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, flexible, and able to work under pressure and in fast paced team environments.
  • Good understanding of security nuances (methodologies, vulnerabilities).
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, and the ability to communicate with executive-level decision-makers.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Uses judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems. Has ability to prioritize information for data analysis. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Project management skills (multi-faceted & complex projects) with ability to handle multiple tasks and deliver results on time.
