Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Control System Test and Qualification Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing and qualification of military control systems to ensure they meet stringent safety, quality, and performance standards. This role involves working closely with design and test teams to validate and verify control system functionality. Additionally, the role requires strong program management skills to oversee testing projects from inception to completion.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Plan Development: Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and protocols for control systems, ensuring all aspects of functionality, performance, and reliability are covered.
  • System-Level Testing: Conduct system-level testing, including functional, performance, environmental, and stress tests, to validate control system performance under various conditions.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze test data using statistical and analytical tools to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Document results and provide detailed reports.
  • Issue Resolution: Collaborate with design and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing. Provide recommendations for design modifications and improvements.
  • Compliance: Ensure all testing activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards.
  • Design Reviews: Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on testability, reliability, and potential risks. Ensure testability is considered in the design phase.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, test summaries, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes, methodologies, and tools. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers. Share knowledge and expertise to build a strong, capable team.
  • Project Planning: Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and milestones for control system testing and qualification projects. Ensure alignment with overall program objectives and deadlines.
  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure project success. Monitor resource utilization and make adjustments as needed.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Track expenses and provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including internal teams, customers, and regulatory bodies. Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and any issues.
  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project success. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and resources. Ensure all changes are documented, communicated, and approved by relevant stakeholders.
  • Post-Project Review: Conduct post-project reviews to evaluate project performance, identify lessons learned, and implement improvements for future projects.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of control systems, sensors, actuators, and related technologies. Proficiency in using test equipment and software tools for data acquisition and analysis.
  • Standards and Regulations: Experience with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of safety and quality standards in aerospace.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to identify root causes of issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in project management, including planning, resource allocation, budget management, and risk management. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance

Desired Characteristics:

  • Software Skills: Knowledge of software programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) is preferred. Familiarity with data analysis tools and software.
  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree in a related field
