Job Description Summary

The Small Uncrewed Engines (SUE) team is seeking a skilled and energetic mechanical systems engineer to join our fast-paced and high energy team. In this role, you will be responsible for design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for small uncrewed engines (thrust class 500#-8000#). You will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives, particularly as related to multiple small uncrewed applications for future military aircraft systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) are met.

  • Manage scope, schedules, coordination, and execution of small uncrewed engines
  • Coordinate with internal and externals customers on technical and installation requirements
  • Manage interface control documents with the customer.
  • Lead cross functional teams in the execution of programs
  • Lead and provide key technical direction on projects with critical business impact
  • Assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
  • Respond to request for proposals and request for information from external customers
  • Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within the work group
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers
  • Communicate with management on technical, financial and programmatic issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in mechanical systems design and development, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in design engineering
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • Direct Design and Manufacturing experience of engine lube scavenge and bearings
  • Familiarity with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating model.
  • Experience working with DoD customer and processes
  • Experience working early engine development and integration programs
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with and presenting to customers
  • Existing DoD Security Secret Clearance
  • Working knowledge of CAMEO and program managing software (such as MS Project).
