Job Description Summary

Perform essential duties and responsibilities for site material movement throughout the shop which includes shipping, receiving, and stores (maintaining inventory of materials).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide general material support throughout the site
  • General housekeeping in area (5S)
  • Prepare domestic dock shipments to include crating, boxing, labeling and examining for specifications
  • Check pack list and verifies accuracy
  • Prepare and set up boxes for shipping
  • Box and crate shipments for outside services
  • Prepares OV shipments
  • Consolidate shipping
  • Pull Parts by FIFO
  • Ship domestic shipments based on customer requirements
  • Use Fed-Ex/UPS/DHL process for domestic shipments
  • Banding and shrink wrapping
  • Prepare specific customer labels
  • Operate a fork lift with proper training
  • Unload trucks
  • Receive materials using set process by utilizing proper tracking and moving materials accordingly
  • Restock materials; replenish point of use materials
  • Transport material to and from OV suppliers in company van
  • Use measuring devices including scales
  • Review, understand and follow work instructions and procedures
  • Ensure all company paperwork is filled-out accurately
  • Meet team goals
  • Cross train
  • Work with other areas in the shop to support the movement and storage of materials
  • Work to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines
  • Work under general direction with minimal coaching in a team environment
  • Keep team informed of work progress, timelines, and issues
  • Will also perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Also, proven ability to demonstrate:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or General education Degree (GED), plus 6 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Ohio driver license is required to operate a forklift.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior shipping, receiving and stores experience.
  • Prior import/export experience.
  • Prior resource planning system experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Forklift certification (Required)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read, analyze and interpret general business communication, technical procedures, or government regulations. Able to read/complete necessary forms and write reports. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of leaders, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to read and understand specifications, be able to analyze and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, and written instructions. Have the ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from team members, coaches and leaders.

MATHMATICAL DEVELOPMENT

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, decimals, and whole numbers. Able to do conversion from and to metrics.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Basic computer skills. Prior resource planning system and/or MS Office programs is preferred.

REASONING ABILITY

Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day. Must be able to work with upper body extremities. Must be able to walk, sit, or stoop on a regular basis. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds on occasion. Items more than 30 pounds will be lifted with assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving high speed machinery and/or mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or outside weather conditions. Employee will be required to use approved chemicals and may be exposed to dust, fumes, or smoke from normal machining operations. (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
