Role Summary/Purpose
The Lynn Aero Sub-Section Manager leads the team responsible for aerodynamics design, analysis, and test for Lynn product lines. The team conducts aerodynamics design and test activities from conceptual design and technology development through detailed design, component and engine test, certification/qualification, and field support. The supported product lines include rotorcraft, combat, marine, industrial, and commercial engines. In this role you will collaborate with the broader Engineering team to develop balanced solutions which meet our customers' needs. The Lynn Aero SSM manages complex engine aero-thermal system performance, integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization, manages the subsection and develops employees, and contributes to long-term planning and overall business strategy.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead aerodynamics design, analysis, and test efforts for multiple GE Aerospace product lines: rotorcraft, combat, attritables, and commercial turbofan. Work scope includes conceptual and detailed airfoil design, modeling, test planning and execution, and data review for compression and turbine aero components.
- Team work scope is conceptual or theoretical activities related to the branch of mechanics involving the motion of air and other gases and with the effects of such motion on bodies in the medium. Activities typically extend to design engineering teams to aid in the design, testing, and life-extension processes.
- Work with interfacing engineering teams to scope and execute programs which meet program technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
- People Leadership for the Lynn Turbomachinery Aero subsection, a diverse group of backgrounds and experience levels. Develop the team, provide growth opportunities to employees, cultivate an inclusive culture.
- Manage resources to support engine development programs, technology development activities, and fielded engine support. Define and assign work tasks to meet program technical/schedule/cost objectives. Provide leadership and technical direction in integration of the aero design with the components and engine system.
- Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel. Develop a pipeline for aero skills. Work with aerodynamics CTHs and leaders to strengthen the discipline.
- Drive the use of Lean and continuous improvement for Aero and Engineering processes.
- Conduct performance appraisals and salary planning.
- Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.
- Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- At least 5 additional years of experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment
Desired Characteristics
- Degree in Aerodynamics or related Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering field
- Program execution experience, including technical development, customer coordination, and system integration
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of gas turbine fundamentals, CFD modeling, fluid dynamics, or instrumentation and test
- Ability to work across organizational boundaries and in a matrixed organization
- Effective team building and team leadership ability
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to obtain security clearance or existing security clearance
