Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Repair Development & Delivery responsibilities, define and apply material and processing related technical requirements of engineering drawings and specifications, substantiate material and process selections for the support of an Engine Manual repair or Service Bulletin alteration repair document issuance.
  • Understand technical requirements of services documents in Engine Shop Manual and drive stakeholders to apply them for repair source qualifications.
  • Resolve material processing related issues encountered during the life cycle of the component while in service, provide support to substantiate deviations from material and processing standpoint.
  • Evaluate impacts to material characteristics for initial part qualifications, subsequent process changes and repairs. Research component history and material properties to apply lessons learned from field experience, manufacturing evolutions, and development programs.
  • Document and communicate investigation results through technical reports and presentations.
  • Identify Materials and Process technology gaps and propose solutions for component durability in service.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical & Materials Science Engineering
  • A minimum of 6 years of engineering experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally in English
  • Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams
  • Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously
  • Complete military service for male applicants

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters of Science and/or and PhD in Materials Science Engineering is preferred
  • Experience in aerospace industry is preferred
  • Experience with and knowledge of repair processes such as chemical/mechanical cleaning, inspection, thermal spray, shot
  • peen, blending, machining, welding, brazing, heat treatment etc.
  • Experience with and knowledge of aerospace materials and material testing; Titanium, Nickel,Iron etc. based super alloys
  • Familiarity with shop operations and quality systems
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills in multi-disciplinary teams with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously, strategically prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • A self-starter with an eye on problem solving and driving solutions.
