As the frontline Operations Leader for our Aviation Component Service Center's (ACSC) Gate 1 processes, you will support daily operations in Plant 1 to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. ACSC is a Component Repair facility in the GE Aerospace Services organization. This particular role oversees approximately 30 direct reports who support repair processing on 1st Shift (6AM-2PM) in areas like chemical cleaning, FPI, NDT (Eddy Current & Ultrasonic), as well as Incoming Dimensional and Visual Inspection. Key areas of focus are Daily Management (SQDIP, in that order), as well as Continuous Improvement (Standard Work, Visual Management, etc.) and cultural transformation.

This leader is responsible for departmental operations and execution of activities within a technical discipline. The person will function with some autonomy while guided by established policies and/or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees. Typically managing hourly employee populations.
  • Manage an operation, business, unit, or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity. Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.
  • A job at this level requires a people leader with ability to hire and develop talent. Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing, time and attendance, and performance development.
  • Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how the area of direct ownership integrates with the rest of the processes in the shop.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of manufacturing leadership experience (or a minimum high school diploma / GED with an additional 4+ years of manufacturing leadership experience).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Experience with lean/continuous improvement principles & implementation of FLIGHTDECK.
  • Established project management skills.
