The Lead Manufacturing Engineer - NPI is responsible for the timely development and industrialization of Component Repair New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, working with relevant functional teams, and ensuring safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives are met.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop repair processes for Component Repair New Product Introduction (NPI) independently.
  • Generate manufacturing routers and instructions, Repair Source Substantiation packages, and other documentation required for industrialization and approval.
  • Lead resolution of technical and operational challenges or concerns raised, and ensure follow through till approval is obtained, and repair is handed over to shop operations.
  • Work closely with the Repair Development and Delivery team in Singapore, USA & other global sites, during the NPI repair development phase & industrialization.
  • Manage multiple NPI projects by providing scheduling, resource management, budget control and EHS compliance.
  • Lead and effectively interface with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and other support teams during NPI repair industrialization into the Shop and ensure that it meets Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity objectives, within schedule and budget.
  • Interface with vendors and internal functions in an effective manner to ensure that the action items to be carried out for the NPI are executed on time and on budget.
  • Assure that all engineering designs and technical data are completed and accurately documented to provide an accurate technical/historical base for future reference and to meet customer / end user requirements.
  • Lead and participate in Lean initiatives, including continuous improvement of processes, and utilize Six Sigma tools for NPI process improvements.
  • Implement new technology and/or process improvements to increase productivity of new repair processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Material or other relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in NPI

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in manufacturing/repair processes and development/industrialization of aircraft engine component repairs.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and inspection tools and processes used in the repair industry, such as heat treat, thermal spray, peening, welding, brazing, machining, etc.
  • Good knowledge of blueprints, application of engine manuals and technical substantiation process.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tool/fixture design and applications in repair.
  • Good time management and strong organizational skills, with ability to multi-task to meet deadlines and customer needs.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, tools and methodology.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed.
