Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the hybrid-electric rig control development for HV components
- Perform design and integration of electric drive control
- Collaborate with the interfacing disciplines of electric drive design and test
- Support the electric system concept development for hybrid applications.
- Use system simulation tools, such as Matlab, Simulink, or PLECS, to validate and refine electric machine control algorithms
Required Qualifications
- MS in electrical engineering or similar field
- Multiple years of experience on electrical drive or rig control
- Experience in implementing modulation strategies for electronic power converters
- Proven expertise in time domain electric system analysis tools, preferably Simulink or PLECS
- Experience in tuning of basic control loops - current, voltage, speed
- Experience in validating electric machine controls through prototyping and laboratory testing
- Experience with Hardware in the Loop (HiL) tools
- Experience in power converter / electric machine integration
- Familiarity with transient/dynamic electric system theory and analysis
- Proven system thinker with ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Desired Characteristics
- Ph.D. in electrical engineering or relevant field
- Excellent team player. Experience in working in a global team
- In-depth knowledge of electrical machines and their controls, especially permanent magnet topology.
- Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement
- Ability to self-manage workload across a number of projects, self-directed and motivated
- Industrial experience
- Aerospace experience
