About this position:
The Component Cooling Lead Engineer will be primarily responsible for cooling design and analysis of combustors that support the Defense Engines product. Will work with experienced Principal engineer to learn the fundamentals of combustor cooling and creation of 3D thermal models in support of new product designs. Responsible for working with adjacent mechanical designers and combustor aero focals to incorporate design constraints into the analysis. Long term focus intended to be on combustor cooling, however some opportunity may exist to also work HPT airfoil cooling designs.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conceptual or theoretical activities relating to the science focused on the relations between heat and mechanical energy or work, and the conversion of one into the other.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can provide informal guidance to new team members
- Present or review key technical review presentations to ensure engineering excellence.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering role
Desired Characteristics
- Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to heat transfer or fluid mechanics preferred
- Basic domain experience in heat transfer and fluid system analysis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
- Ability to quickly learn interact with various internal heat transfer computer tools
- Ability to understand and write basic coding & scripts
