The Lead Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Development Lab Engineer is a key member of the technical team that helps current and future programs to achieve program milestones and meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work both independently and with various teams to develop ceramic matrix composite processes and components for aircraft engines and other aerospace applications.

A successful Development Lab Engineer will operate both independently and as part of a team to complete activities such as tool design, layup planning, and part analysis to achieve desired project outcomes and support both current and future applications of CMCs. Success in this position requires defining the manufacturing process steps and boundaries to ensure producibility while meeting customer requirements and part form, fit, and function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead efforts to produce novel manufacturing designs and enable successful CMC preform manufacturing in a low-rate production and lab environment
- Lead and participate on cross-functional teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives; work collaboratively with design, materials, and supply chain partners
- Prepare technical planning to manufacture CMC preforms in a low-rate production and lab environment
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
- Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/requirements:
- B.S. degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy from an accredited university or college or B.S. degree in another Engineering discipline from an accredited university or college with at least 3 years of experience in composites manufacturing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering role / position
