These teams work with a variety of supplier partners researching the best rates and negotiating contracts to support every step in our supply chain process.

Role Profile

As a Supply Chain Business Degree Apprentice (BDA) you will be based within our 600+ person Supply Chain, based in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham. Throughout your 3.5-year apprenticeship, you will be supported through, and study, a Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, which is delivered by the University of Gloucestershire. Local delivery from the Oxtalls Campus gives you the opportunity to have a more authentic university experience, with access to lecturers, libraries, facilities and societies.

Lectures are usually delivered via 2-day block release every 6-8 weeks, within typical university semesters. Apprentices are given 6-8 hours per week to complete 'off the job learning' which can be used towards academic work and other enrichment activity. Teaching dates are mapped out from start to end, so you know what you will study, and when. We aim to arrange team building activities during non-teaching months to help continue to develop your skills. As part of your degree, you will also obtain a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) qualification.

Apprentices are based on site for placement work, in order to enhance learning and maximise support available. Our scheme is rotational, offering you the opportunity to experience key functions and work on business projects, with real responsibility, in order to gain a practical understanding of a busy Supply Chain.

Rotations are typically a minimum of 6-months, and may include:

  • Planning
  • Sourcing
  • Operations
  • Quality
  • Materials
  • Manufactuing Engineering

We want to support your personal and professional development, which is why you will be given the opportunity build network with internal and external customers and to apply your skills in different teams. Some rotations may, on occasion, offer the opportunity for some, typically UK based, travel, whilst others may offer department specific certifications.

We want to support your personal and professional development, which is why you will be given the opportunity build your network and develop soft skills. At GE Aerospace we see personal development as a key driver of success at a business level. Apprentices are also given additional time to complete 'off the job learning' when on site. We aim to arrange team building activities during non-teaching time to help continue to develop your skills.

Our apprentice community partake in, and often lead enrichment teams and activities that help to connect apprentices across different schemes. This is with a view to giving back to the business and local community. You will have access to mentors and may wish to join one of GE Aerospace employee-run networks, such as Women's network, STEM, Pride Alliance, Including & Diversity, and more.

You will be supported by your Apprentice Manager, Rotation Managers, mentors, and the wider apprentice network, to ensure you are meeting the requirements of your course and getting the most out of your apprenticeship. Apprentices who complete this scheme have the skills to apply to almost any function within the Supply Chain - therefore, roll-off opportunities are not limited to a specified area.

In recent years, alumni have successfully secured roles such as Materials Leader or Planner, Manufactuing Team Leader, Sourcing Specialist, and many other roles across our business.
