GE Aerospace Research is looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join our Robotics and Autonomous System team as a Fellow Intern. You will work side by side with experts in the field on robotics and embodied AI research projects to solve real-world technical problems and challenges. As a PhD Fellow Intern, you will be challenged to apply your theoretical knowledge into practice and gain invaluable hands-on experience with cutting edge robotics and AI technologies that help shape the Future of Flight.
An ideal candidate should have
- Strong background in robotics, machine learning, and/or deep learning.
- Publication records at research conferences, such as ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, CVPR, CASE, etc.
- Experience in end-to-end vision-language-action models, reinforcement learning, real2sim/sim2real transfer, path planning and motion planning.
- Proficiency in Python, experience with ROS, and familiar with implementing robotic programs for robot arms, such as FANUC, ABB, etc.

This immersive internship program also offers mentorship and networking opportunities with industry experts, including but not limited to seminars on cross-center technologies and soft skills development.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a full-time PhD program at a U.S. university in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and related engineering majors, math or physics.
- Minimum GPA 3.0 / 4.0 scale
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Willingness to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
Desired Characteristics:
- Hands-on experience working with robotic arms and systems.
- Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Strong interpersonal skills, initiative and organization; demonstrated ability working with a team
- Strong problem solving skills thorough attention to detail
The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific weekly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. GE provides travel reimbursement and housing stipend for qualified interns.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
