Job Description Summary

At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for engine and mechanical transmissions applied to both civil and military aviation (i.e., accessory drivetrains, engine thermal management, turboprop & helicopter reduction gearboxes, etc.).

In Advanced Systems Design we are developing Mechanical Transmissions (i.e., accessory drivetrain & power gearboxes) for Next Generation Narrow Body applications. In this spirit, we are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Structural Integrity Focal engineer. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the structural integrity and reliability of our cutting-edge transmission system. Your expertise will contribute to the evolution of aviation technology, enabling next-generation aircraft to operate with unparalleled efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The Structural Integrity Focal utilizes experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, affecting short-term and long-term goals.

  • Understand and predict Power Gearbox behavior through FE or analytical tools
  • Work with module designers to optimize the overall system behavior of the Gearbox, from concept to detailed design
  • Ensure proper integration of the Gearbox in the Whole Engine Model (WEM)
  • Coordinate with GE Aerospace global teams and partners to ensure continuous alignment on engine design requirements.
  • Flow down design requirements to the rest of the team for detailed assessment on components
  • Liaise closely to the Gearbox System Engineer/Module Owner to ensure program priorities are properly flow down to the design team

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Proven good experience in similar role
  • Strong analytical and numerical attitude
  • Knowledge of FE design tools (preferable Ansys and NASTRAN)
  • Good experience in Mechanical Design
  • English and Italian fluency
  • Work Visa, according to local regulations is required
