Job Description Summary

As a Facility Controls Engineer/Specialist, you will participate in the design of efficient and reliable control systems, troubleshoots issues, and ensure The Control Console Programmer role within the Facility Control Operations team is responsible for the setup and configuration of systems essential for engine control, operational monitoring, and data reporting, in addition to maintaining the communication systems crucial for safe and efficient engine test. This position requires basic skill in troubleshooting electrical circuits, proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems, and fundamental programming skills. Employees in this role will also participate in efforts to improve operations, document processes and procedures, and engage with engineering teams in support of area projects and needs. Familiarity with PLCs, hands-on experience with applied instrumentation, and strong communication abilities are considered a plus.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for programming and configuring the test cell control console and its supporting systems to tailor them according to specific customer requirements for engine test.
  • Ensure the maintenance, documentation, and strict revision control of configuration files and source code to uphold system integrity and performance.
  • Utilize troubleshooting techniques in collaboration with the test team to address and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
  • Develop a working knowledge of available resources, including personnel and documentation, and strategically utilize these resources as needed to successfully complete testing objectives.
  • Participate in planning discussions with cell owners and/or test engineers to establish objectives for test cell support, focusing on the control console and its associated systems.
  • Provide technical support to engineering and operations teams regarding programming, including guidance on technical approaches, scheduling, execution strategies, process enhancement, and collaboration with engineering groups.
  • Participate in technical discussions and reviews with leadership and engineering. Assist in process improvement and evolution of console equipment with engineering teams.
  • Develop understanding of key business drivers to achieve deliverables. Establish an understanding of the integration of test operations with various teams and their contributions to the engine testing process.
  • Develop, implement, and integrate digital tools into team workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Associate degree from an accredited university or college and 2+ years of experience.
  • OR a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in a component or engine test operations environment)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance when needed is required.
