Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

This role requires an engineer with a strong, foundational, first principles understanding in aerothermal sciences (aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion, heat transfer), and graduate level experience in numerical and/or experimental methods, and experience in development of computational fluid dynamics/heat transfer/combustion algorithms, codes, and models.

The candidate should have post-graduate (M.S. by Research, or M. Tech) level experience of working in research labs, demonstrating a path from a fundamental technical understanding to accomplishing research program objectives in areas of specialization.

In particular, the individual is expected to conduct research in developing and utilizing experimental / computational models of aircraft engine gas turbines to obtain insights about the aerothermal physics and execute studies to solve critical design challenges working collaboratively with the GE Aerospace Research and Engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should possess graduate (M.S. or M. Tech) degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics or Applied Mathematics

Candidates should demonstrate having executed independent research and demonstrated ability to learn and apply fundamental understanding to solve problems.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

Desired Characteristics

Candidates should have a strong physics and mathematics orientation, and an understanding of numerical / computational methods and models applied to aerothermal sciences (aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion and heat transfer).

Analytical and creative approach to problem solving.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

High level of adaptability and passion for learning.
