This role is for the Engineering Materials Systems Surface Technologies, Airfoils & Repair (STAR) section lean operations leader. This team specializes in material coatings, turbine airfoils, and repair technologies. In this role, the candidate will be an advocate for FLIGHT DECK and partner with section leadership to implement and coach the team on lean principles. Additionally, the candidate will partner with leadership to define and implement section strategy, priorities, and operating rhythms, with efforts spanning from the technical to operational/financial in nature.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop competency in FLIGHT DECK fundamentals; serve as the section champion and coach for FLIGHT DECK down to all levels of the organization
- Build section level operating rhythms, including daily management at the sub-section / IC level, and weekly and monthly operating rhythms at the section level
- Partner with EMS department operations leadership to drive cross-department lean process improvement initiatives
- Drive initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the engineering function and interfaces with other functions to provide effective coordination of metrics, dashboards, functional processes, and cross-functional initiative coordination
- Process tracking, metrics tracking. Responsible for headcount, finance, and various other data collections that are used for ultimate decision making
- Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead cross-functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and indirectly influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline
- At least 5 years experience in a materials technology or adjacent technical discipline
