This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 3-4 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

Job Description
The Embedded Software (Test) Engineer is a critical role within the aerospace sector, dedicated to the rigorous testing of embedded software running on many different products. This position demands a thorough understanding of Software Test methods including requirements based testing, test script development, and hardware/software integration skills. Setup and configuration of test hardware, computers, peripherals, and test equipment are also needed for this role.
Role and Responsibilities:
- DO-178C Software Verification: Develop test cases, test procedures for requirements-based testing of embedded software.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders throughout the software life cycle.
- Perform Software Test Automation: Expertise in using automation tools and frameworks to design and implement test scripts.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, and C to develop and maintain automated tests.
- Perform integration of automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Familiarity with various development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, etc.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with development engineering teams, and other team members to ensure software and hardware is thoroughly tested. Participate in all phases of the design/development cycle, from concept to release.
Technical Skills:
- Hardware-Software Integration Testing: Create/Maintain/Conducting integration tests to ensure that the software correctly interfaces with hardware components.
- Regression Testing: Performing regression testing to ensure that changes or enhancements do not introduce defects into existing functionality. Requires CI/DevOps skills.
- Experience with test hardware: Lab PC's (running Windows and Linux operating systems), networking and PC/Hardware configuration in a laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of experience in related fields.
- Demonstrates an understanding of formal testing/verification concepts.

Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with tools such as: DOORS, Cameo EA, Jenkins, other CI/DevOps tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Good interpersonal skills, potentially leading a junior team.
- For customer-facing roles, ability to develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between the customer and GE.
- Experience/Familiarity with tools such as: DOORS, Cameo EA, JTAG Debuggers, Jenkins, SAST Tools such as "Checkmarx".
- DO-178C Compliance: Emerging knowledge of DO-178C guidelines and ensuring all testing activities comply with DO-178C standards.
