Job Description Summary

The GE Aerospace Defense and Systems "Edison Engineering Development Programme" (EEDP) is an IET-Accredited Rotational Graduate Scheme for people with passion for technology, dedication to technical excellence and a connection to GE's core values. The program is designed to accelerate your professional development through technical and leadership training, while working on a variety of Aerospace Systems projects with responsibility for business-critical priorities.

This 2-year graduate programme will provide three rotations working at the GE Aerospace facilities in Warsaw, Poland and Cheltenham, UK leading to a off programme position in Warsaw, Poland.

Edison Engineering Development Programme Details

Edison is a one-of-a-kind programme combining continued study with experience of the full engineering lifecycle.

Exposing participants to all areas of a world leading global organization, participants can see first-hand how ideas come to life. Edisons benefit from GE Aerospace's global breadth by working alongside other programme members, and project teams, across the world. The Edison Programme is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself in an encouraging, harmonious, environment while gaining hands on experience of some of the most advanced engineering challenges in the world today.

The Edison Engineering Development Programme is a genuinely collaborative environment, with a committed team ethos, and a highly supportive professional and social community.

The Key elements of the Programme include:

  • Three technical rotations, which could include Systems and Software Engineering, within projects driven by real GE Aerospace Defense and Systems business priorities.
  • Development of Engineering Competencies towards Professional Registration (IEng and CEng) through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
  • Participation in the GE Aerospace Foundation Programme, including residential training week with other GE Aerospace Leadership Programme members.
  • Development of advanced technical, problem-solving and time management skills through Edison A-Course and B-Course, though weekly Technical Classes, Workshops, Formal Reports and Presentations.
  • Opportunities to meet with, and present to, influential GE Aerospace Leaders.
  • Residential training and development courses to further developing your personal and professional skills.
  • Opportunities to improve your Professional Development Skills, including Teamwork, Leadership, Understanding Self/Others, Emotional Intelligence and Communications.
  • Opportunities to play a key role in our STEM Outreach Programme. Edisons are strongly encouraged to lead the way with our STEM Educational Strategy Scheme. These opportunities can contribute towards your IEng/CEng C, D and E competences.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum 2:1 Accredited Bachelor's, or a Master's, Engineering Degree in Systems or Software (or similar)
  • An Engineering Placement, Internship or Work experience in an Aerospace (or other similarly controlled) environment
  • Experience working in an Engineering Team
  • An analytic, collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Dedication to a career in technology and a real passion for Engineering
  • An understanding of the GE Aerospace Defense and Systems business and our products
  • A strong commitment to Continued Professional Development
  • Fluent in written and spoken English & Polish
  • Flexibility to be based in the following locations:

    • GE EDC Warsaw, Poland: July - December 2025 (with 5 weeks Cheltenham, UK Training during this period)
    • GE Aerospace Cheltenham, UK: January - December 2026
    • GE EDC Warsaw, Poland: January 2027 onwards

Additional Desired Characteristics

  • An Accredited Master's Degree
  • An Engineering Internship with GE Aerospace
  • Existing registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech)
  • A commitment to Personal Development, including membership of a Professional Institution (e.g. the Institution of Engineering and Technology), and desire to work towards Professional Registration as an Incorporated and/or Chartered Engineer
  • A Passion to develop the next generation of Engineers through STEM Volunteering

Recruitment Process

Application deadline is 28th February 2025. However, we review applications on a rolling basis and encourage you to apply ASAP. Vacancies may close early dependent on application volumes. The process will include a video interview and an assessment center in Warsaw.
