Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace Supply Chain Manufacturing in India - manufacturing varied products relevant to this market and also exporting components, subsystems and products for the global market. EHS Leader will be responsible for leading all aspects of environment, health and safety (EHS) program implementation, compliance and risk mitigation at Multimodal Manufacturing facility at Pune.
This Role will also be responsible for Site Sustainability as well.
This Role Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility to drive EHS excellence culture at the site to ensure Safety 1st.
  • Support operations in addressing EHS compliance concerns audits.
  • Support operations in implementing GE's global EHS expectations & Frame Work
  • Provide leadership and guidance to fulfill GE EHS management system.
  • Ensure site EHS compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Develop proactive EHS programs to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Plan, lead, and impact all level site functional staff to achieve sustainable EHS culture with EHS goals and measurements.
  • Provide leadership & Technical Expertise on all EHS related issues.
  • Develop & Implement programs to prevent occupational hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all the regulatory (EHS) requirements applicable to a manufacturing industry.
  • Sustain EHS and Culture (High Performance Teams) programs.
  • Act as an immediate contact for associates on the floor concerning environmental, health and safety related needs, issues etc.
  • Recording, Reporting and Investigation of Incidents with the root cause identification and closure.
  • Lead and drive employee engagement events, Safety Teams.
  • Develop and conduct training, and maintain EHS related records.
  • To conduct EHS Training on a regular basis
  • Maintain knowledge of existing and proposed regulations and advise management of the impact to the business regarding those regulations.
  • Support GE's hazardous waste vendor approval program
  • Periodical inspection / audits to verify noncompliance and to ensure safe work practices followed
  • Development of Safe Work Practices
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline or a Master's Degree in EHS with a minimum of 12 + years of working experience in industry.
  • Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety
  • Must have working knowledge of the Indian EHS Regulations.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Labor Law and Practices.
