Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace is now a stand-alone company, meeting business Cost/Productivity targets for near, mid and long-term is more important than ever before. The newly stood up Services Engineering Cost Technology (CT) team is looking for a Strategic Projects Leader who will lead and drive identification and execution of strategic cost reduction ideas to impact the new Engine Average Unit Cost for programs like Leap & 9X. This role will require strong partnerships across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Product lines to identify and executive complex strategic projects that will break the cost curve mid and long term. The range of projects would include, but not limited to, system level architecture opportunities, new technology introductions, support make/buy/JV opportunities, etc. working with cross functional mission based teams. This role will require technical leadership as well as program leadership to deliver sustainable results. It is a high visibility role, will be part of CT leadership team, with regular engagements with Functional leaders, Product line leaders, Engineering leaders and will require to support HK deliverables.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting Cost Technologies mid and long term Strategy, to deliver targeted AUC goals for new Engines
  • Represent Cost Technologies across all stakeholders, requiring strong communication and presentational skills to ensure accurate reception of data and status
  • Charts the course and Partners closely in a cross functional environment with all functional stake holders to deliver results.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics.
  • May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
