Job Description Summary

As the COMSEC Operations Leader you will be responsible for providing multi-disciplinary security support for classified government programs in the Military Systems business. You will be responsible for having in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; have working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market. You must have advanced expertise in COMSEC discipline, and the ability to work directly with the NSA, prepare for inspections, help other sites and security entities prepare for theirs, and ensure a compliant program with an approach that fits the regulator expectations.

  • Manage COMSEC program for Edison Works, for the Evendale site, with advisement and oversight of the other EW sites.
  • Travel to other sites as needed to prepare for inspections, validate self-inspections, and provide expert level support.
  • Handle incidents and guidance of incident handling as well as driving standard work across all EW sites with a COMSEC program.
  • Regulate interface and have the ability to maintain and build relationships with government customers.
  • Mentor others outside of GE, within working groups.
  • Obtain the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Keep up with regulation changes and weigh in on proposed changes within industry.
  • Ensure security of personnel, facilities, computers, general information and information systems for Government classified programs.
  • Develop specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Serve as best practice/quality resource. Have awareness of latest functional developments in own area. Contribute towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Skillfully influence, communicate complex messages to others. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus. Develop persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Impact approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impact quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. These jobs have significant input into their priorities. Jobs at this level tend to be covered by professional practices and policies but these are shaped by the role. Work within broad guidelines and policies, roles at this level have moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of evaluative judgment.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems that impact the function. Take new perspective on existing solutions. Use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 6 years of professional experience OR associate's degree with minimum of 9 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 11 years of professional experience
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Security & Special Programs Security.
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience
