Job Description Summary

An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced Commodity Leader to join the Cheltenham commodity team. This position is a fantastic chance to join a strong team that is critical to the success of the growing Cheltenham campus.

GE Aerospace is a major manufacturer of aircraft engines and components partnering with the world's major aerospace companies covering commercial, business jet and military applications.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define supplier strategy including management and optimisation of supplier panels.
  • Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to Procurement.
  • Manage claims. Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support,
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
  • Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
  • Use judgement and propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems.
  • Prioritise information for data analysis.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• This role requires significant experience in Sourcing/Procurement & Supply Chain Management
• Proven ability in leading and engaging teams
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, influence others and lead small teams
• Degree qualified and/or relevant experience

Desired experience and skills

• Knowledge of Oracle ERP
• Lean/Continuous training and implementation
• Previous people management experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing priorities
• Project management skills
