Job Description Summary

This position is for an individual contributor who will be responsible for the new-make manufacture of Mechanical Systems Engineering components across GE Aerospace CF34 product line in both, GE shops and Sourced parts. The role will involve solving manufacturing and producibility challenges while driving excellence through engineering and leadership characteristics.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of the new Integrated Manufacturing Engineering organization that is dedicated to improving the producibility, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and using Flight Deck (SQDC) to dramatically improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfill our customers' expectations.

You will be responsible for producibility design changes, on-going manufacturing support, cost reductions and strategic improvements on production-related processes for Mechanical Systems commodities.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute with guidance from senior engineering resources the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing, and quality, and regularly communicate with commodity and industry experts while promoting open and honest dialogue.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites to gain practical knowledge of hardware manufacturing.
  • Execute the engineering analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles to improve manufacturability and technical robustness of assigned components.
  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and recommend improvements.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of engineering and manufacturing, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute on complex projects to meet technical requirements and business goals.
  • Lead technical projects of moderate scope and complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.
  • Provide support for vendor qualification, producibility improvements, and hardware delivery.
  • Function as a mentor to colleagues with less experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated Problem Solving experience.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Fundamental understanding of turbomachinery system design.
  • Only people with a legal work permit in Mexico.

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience in design of aerospace components.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of aerospace components.
  • Demonstrate performance in a high collaborative environment.
  • Experience with ANSYS and NX.
  • Certification in ASME Y14.5 or practical experience with GD&T.
  • Passion for problem solving and driving solutions while constantly learning and mentoring others.
  • Mechanical Systems MRB certification.
  • DRB approver.
