Job Description

The CNMS Civil Programs Director will have broad program execution responsibility across the P&L for all civil business.

Reporting directly to the CNMS Executive General Manager, this role will unify the execution for our Boeing Commercial, Airbus, Bombardier, Gulfstream, and new initiatives under a single leadership structure. The Programs Director will provide strategic direction and prioritize execution efforts to ensure successful outcomes for our civil portfolio of programs.

Additionally, the role will involve contributing strategic insights and leadership to major pursuit activities, working closely with business product leadership to drive success in new and ongoing projects. The Civil Program Director will lead a team of Senior Program Managers in the execution of this portfolio of work.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
  • Builds expertise in key countries, product lines, markets, sales processes and customer groups within a commercial formal certification environment.
  • Influences civil aviation policy and ensure effective delivery across large and/or diverse sales territories.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry and airframer trends to inform decision making process.
  • Builds and leads cross-functional teams to find creative solutions to complex projects, product lines, markets, sales processes, or customers. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • Develop and implement resource planning for projects (staffing, investment, risk and change management. Tailor and employ Program Excellence best practices (e.g. EVMS) to ensure achievement of CNMS Civil Programs financial targets.
  • Communicates complex messages and negotiates with internal and external stakeholders to adopt optimal problem resolution and program execution outcomes. Influences peers to take action using GE Flight Deck tools and process.
  • Strategy development and roadmap planning to support growth of Civil program portfolio.
  • Develop program management talent through recruiting, coaching and mentoring.

Required characteristics:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science.
  • Minimum 10 years combined experience in Engineering or Business leadership roles in the Civil Aerospace market space.
  • US Person: This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired characteristics:

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Business Administration, and Finance strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in development and execution of programs and products to be certified under FAA, EASA, and other civil agencies.
  • Demonstrated strong performance in employing core Program Management skills (business case development, technical project management & Earned Value, contract management, financial planning and accounting).
  • Demonstrated strong performance in customer relationship management in a Civil Aerospace environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop Senior PM talent.
  • Established relationships and proven successful management on Boeing Commercial, Airbus, Gulfstream and/or Bombardier programs/product development.
  • Detailed partner/supplier management skills with commercial aerospace companies at both the component and system level.
  • Experience in program execution of military programs.
