About the Role:

As an Embedded Software Engineer within the IVHM team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing aircraft safety and efficiency. You will be tasked with the design, development, and testing of embedded software solutions that are critical for the health management of aircraft systems. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and a commitment to GE Aerospace's core values of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, and develop high-quality embedded software for IVHM products, adhering to GE processes and the rigorous standards of DO-178C.
  • Monitor continuous software integration and testing efforts, identifying software anomalies and devising robust solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and support to less experienced team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met, contributing to the overall success of the IVHM organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college, OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in avionics software development.
  • U.S. person status (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or other protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), due to access to export-controlled technology. Proof of status will be required prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in STEM, with a focus on Software Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience with the software design lifecycle in an aerospace or similar safety-regulated environment, including familiarity with DO-178C.
  • Proficiency in Ada, C, and C++ programming languages, and experience with tools such as DOORS, RTC, Git, and Eclipse.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical challenges and solutions to a diverse audience.
  • Proven leadership qualities, with a track record of successfully managing projects and leading teams.
  • An openness to learning and adaptability to new challenges.
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and/or lean methodologies.
