Job Description Summary

We are seeking an engineering or business professional to support the GE Aerospace Product Validation team with a keen focus on data management and business collaboration. This role requires a highly process-oriented individual with strong documentation and data skills, capable of problem-solving and possessing a Lean mindset. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to influence without direct authority. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Spotfire and other data systems, with demonstrated proficiency in learning new systems. The position demands a deep understanding of Aerospace engineering language to aid in "Bullet Train" expense budgeting and tracking process and the ability to interface effectively within the Product Validation team and externally to partner organizations to understand deliverable requirements. The role involves formulating business strategies, funneling plans and requirements to leadership for project and budget approval. Candidates with a finance background coupled with engineering experience, as well as project management skills to ensure project alignment with plans, will be highly desired. This position offers a valuable learning opportunity within GE Aerospace, emphasizing Flight Deck (Lean) principles, and targets candidates eager to embrace the business strategy of Engineering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Process tracking, metrics tracking, KPI ownership. Responsible for Bullet Train (expense color of money) and various other data collections that are used for ultimate decision making.
  • Support Product Validation department needs around Spotfire data system, USG property management, Clarity system, Special Tooling and FAMS (Fixed Asset Management System).
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, analytical thinking, financial acumen and technical experience to support policy/strategy/budget/reporting execution.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated situations and/or technical variety to best support testing operation needs.
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business from an accredited college and university
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in engineering operations / financial budget management

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with managing budgets, including soliciting input from across a large department to build a proposed budget, review with senior leadership, work through revisions, shepherd through the approval process and communicate approved budgets back through the department. Followed by continuous data analysis and communication with teams to perform within a monthly budget and work with the teams if needed to return to an on-budget performance.
  • Strong financial acumen, including Excel skills. Ability to understand GAP rules, colors of money, etc.
  • A strong background in test cell / lab operations to help to understand how financial budgets tie to execution of business objectives.
  • Passionate about process improvements, standard work, Lean methods to improve efficiencies.
