Job Description Summary
The Special Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining chemical and peening processes in a manufacturing environment. Chemical processes include acid based etch, alkaline cleaning, and fluorescent penetrant inspection. Peening processes include surface treatment with steel, glass, and ceramic media as well as isotropic superfinish tumble. The role coordinates with operators, technicians, maintenance, and certifying agents daily to ensure processes are running within specified parameters. The role identifies process improvement opportunities and is responsible for ideation through execution of these projects. This includes working directly with equipment vendors for new equipment procurement and on-site implementation. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description
- Job Roles and Responsibilities
- High focus on safety and quality in assigned area and processes.
- Incorporate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) with existing and new process development.
- Define and control production process including tooling, equipment, and training.
- Document and validate process changes within guidelines of the Quality Management System.
- • Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment.
- Train to become a Certifying Agent in both chemical and peening processes Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- Support multiple internal customers simultaneously while balancing the demands of the business. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the business.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing & Production Process and Equipment)
- 3 years of Manufacturing & Production Process and Equipment
