About the Role
Gap is looking for an experienced and dynamic commercial transactions practitioner, with strong aspirations to grow, innovate and push boundaries, to join its Global Legal team. This position will work closely and provide strategic legal guidance to business partners for each of Gap's purpose-led, billion-dollar lifestyle brands, Gap, Old Navy, Athleta and Banana Republic, as well as corporate functional teams such as procurement, technology, privacy, information security, finance, strategy, marketing, communications, sustainability, human resources, facilities, logistics, supply chain, tax, accounting, and product safety. The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented strategic thinker with sound judgement, who will provide practical guidance and manage multiple complex and high value matters simultaneously and often under time pressure. The role will report to the Senior Director, AGC and leader of the Commercial Contracts Legal Team based in California.
What You'll Do
- Provide commercially oriented, practical and strategic legal advice and guidance to the business in relation to all aspects of complex and high value third party agreements (in particular those with a technology focus)
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of agreements related to technology, software, SaaS, payments,e-commerce, consulting, transportation and logistics services
- Negotiate and draft agreements related to strategic partnerships, joint development, IP acquisitions, and privacy
- Provide strategic legal and business advice to facilitate long-term relationships with key business partners
- Manage numerous projects and complex matters simultaneously under deadline pressure
- Support Head of Commercial Contracts Legal as appropriate in the evolution of our contract process and policies including use of tools and databases or trackers to drive towards efficiencies and productivity
- JD Required; Licensed to practice law in the US with 7+ years of experience in a reputable law firm and/or multinational companies required; in house experience greatly preferred.
- Experience in drafting, negotiating, counseling and problem solving a broad range of commercial transactions in particular agreements related to technology, software, SaaS, payments, e-commerce is a prerequisite.
- Experience with some or all of other types of agreements such as transportation and logistics, marketing and advertising, consulting and services, talent and partnerships is highly desirable.
- In-house experience and/or retail, commercialor consumer products, privacyexperience (with knowledge of U.S. state and UK/EU privacy laws, Generative AI, and AdTech) a plus.
- Practical mindset with the demonstrated ability to provide strategic counseling to business partners that balances legal considerations and business objectives, cutting through complexities deftly and driving to solutions
- Excellent communication, collaboration, counseling, decision making, problem solving and influencing skills.
- Emotional intelligence and ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels and effectively navigate complex organizations.
- Ability to handle multiple complex matters concurrently and often under time pressure, and effectively prioritize work to efficiently achieve business objectives.

Salary Range: $162,800 - $222,100 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
