About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled data governance subject matter expert with a strong background in product catalog and the end-to-end product-to-market lifecycle (sourcing, inventory management, pricing, assortment, allocation etc.) to join our enterprise data governance team at Gap Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for prioritization of the business value use cases and enablement of data driven insights/decisions. Strong ability to influence stakeholders and setting priorities is required. You are expected to collaborate closely with business, product management and technology teams to drive data management excellence, ensuring data consistency and integrity. You will have a deep understanding of the data ecosystem, including metadata management, data quality standards, data governance strategies and retail product hierarchy structure. The ideal candidate should be able to influence business for successful change management and operationalization of data governance.

There are two location options for this role - onsite in Dallas or San Francisco.
What You'll Do
  • Articulate, interpret and apply the principles of overall data strategy to unique, moderately complex business problems that may span multiple functions or sub-domains
  • Drive workshops independently with the business to understand their use cases and facilitate across relevant stakeholders for implementing solutions addressing the pain-points
  • Lead the implementation of data governance policies and procedures within the product and merchandising domain (sourcing, inventory management, pricing, assortment, allocation etc.)
  • Lead data governance forums for effective oversight and desired outcomes
  • Take ownership of building the product business metrics library with attribute enrichment and play the role of a lead product domain data steward
  • Responsible for data source identification, controls monitoring, data quality frameworks and metadata management
  • Define and gather business functional data quality rules for core product and merchandising metrics
  • Support product transformation and operational teams in data-centric initiatives, ensuring fast, frictionless access to trusted data
  • Understand downstream impacts and communicate data changes effectively
  • Influence other teams to adapt data governance processes and procedure.
Who You Are
  • Manager level experience in a data stewardship or data analytics role preferably in the retail industry
  • Strong understanding of P2M data, processes, systems, and data flows within a merchandising environment
  • Previous hands-on experience in data quality management and data governance tools like Collibra, Alation etc.
  • Knowledge of product hierarchy structures within stores as well as eComm sites
  • Familiarity with Stibo PIM and Profisee product master data tools
  • Leadership presence with the ability to present in front of C-Suite
  • Ability to analyze data and extrapolate knowledge to make strong recommendations

Salary Range: $134,700 - $178,400 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
