Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand all facilities department safety rules including chemical safety, hearing conservation, etc.Participates in monthly facilities departmental safety meetings.
  • Learn and understand how to operate forklifts and pallet jacks, loading and unloading pallets, newsprint rolls, and other packages as necessary.
  • Ship and receive items required for daily newspaper operation such as newsprint rolls, daily preprinted inserts and all other items required for operation. This includes proper newsprint loading/unloading, utilization of inventory scanning and tracking systems, and proper documentation.
  • Store, inventory, and deliver supplies to all personnel as assigned.
  • Assist Shipping and Receiving with processing, staging, storing, and disposal of preprints
  • Unload preprint from trucks as needed.
  • Maintain all facility equipment properly. This includes painting, remodeling, and all other general repairs to building or building equipment as required.
  • Move equipment, furniture, cubical components, etc.
  • Keep facilities and departmental area safe, clean, and organized. Maintains newsprint/insert warehouse in orderly fashion. Properly handles waste disposal (used chemicals, etc).
  • Perform general facility cleaning indoor and outdoor of complete facility, water removal, floor maintenance, exterior and grounds maintenance, and facilitate company recycling programs.
  • Keep restrooms, break/kitchen areas properly cleaned and stocked with janitorial supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, trash can liners, etc.
  • Cleaning, sweeping, and mopping of facility as assigned by manager.
  • Other clean up methods of the facility and grounds including blowing leaves, shoveling snow, picking up trash.
  • Dispose of materials such as building materials, crates, and skids as needed.
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school education or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Must obtain forklift certification.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Excellent problem solving and basic math skills.
  • Must learn to operate and have solid understanding of all material handling equipment including forklifts, clamp trucks, scissor lift, walk behind lifts, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Excellent people skills, Must be able to work well and constantly communicate (both written and verbally).
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedule including days, night, weekends, and holidays.
  • Prompt ness and reliability to work.
  • Must have solid organizational and computer skills including good working knowledge of general software programs. Frequent lifting or moving of 25 to 50 pounds.
